Adaptive KickballAdults with DisabilitiesCome play kickball and meet new friends! This is a great opportunity for individuals ages 18 and over with disabilities to learn new skills and have tons of fun playing kickball. Equipment will be provided. New to kickball - no problem! This class gives people with disabilities the opportunity to learn the basics of kickball. For those who can’t kick, we will offer a variety of ways to “kick” the ball – everyone is welcome! Please note in the registration if your athlete requires a buddy to help them throughout the game and/or if you are interested in volunteering. ** Indoor ADA restrooms are available. The instructors will encourage children to develop good attitudes and safe practices around the water. They will work on locomotion skills in the water and on using simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions. Level 1 - Introduction to Water SkillsRequirements: NONE. The objective of Level 1 is to help students feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely. Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills Requirements: Enter water unassisted, move forward 5 yards, bob 5 times. Front float with support with face in water for 5 seconds, roll onto back and back float with support. Skills Taught: Success with fundamental skills; simultaneous and alternating arm and leg action on the front and back; retrieval of submerged objects, floats and glides, and self-help and basic rescue skills. Please use the following prerequisites to determine the placement for your child. Level 5 - Stroke RefinementRequirements: Jump into water, swim front crawl 25 yards, back float for 1 minute, and swim elementary backstroke 15 yards. Swim breaststroke 15 yards, tread water 1 minute back crawl 25 yards. Skills Taught: Coordination and refinement of strokes, front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke; increase distances; and flip turns. Level 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency/Pre-Swim Team:Prerequisites include: Shallow dive, swim front crawl for 50 yards, back float for 1 minute, swim elementary backstroke 50 yards, swim breaststroke 25 yards, tread water for 5 minutes, swim back crawl 25 yards, front and backstroke flip turns and water safety elements.Skills Taught: Refine strokes so participants can swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances; they are able to swim continuously while using appropriate breathing techniques and turns for each stroke Level 6 - Personal Water Safety Skills: Participants will be able to swim all strokes proficiently, demonstrating effectiveness and efficiency, introduction to other aquatic activities, which prepares students to participate in other advanced aquatic courses and activities such as Water Safety Aide and Lifeguarding.Spring/Summer 2026 -
