We’ll meet once a month at the Pony Activity Center (PAC) Center at Stillwater Area High School in Stillwater, rain or shine, to get our steps in and move our bodies. Water Safety Instructor CourseAmerican Red Cross Certification CoursesThis course provides instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Students develop their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to teach swim lessons and how to evaluate participants' progress. Students should bring a lunch, snack, water bottle, swim suit and towel each day. Attendance at all classes is required. Prerequisites: Must be 15 years old by the last date of the course. Successful completion of pre-course session that includes: demonstrate swimming skills consistent with the Level 4 Stroke Performance Chart by swimming 25 yards each of the front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke, and 15 yards of the butterfly, maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling), & tread water for 1 minute. WSI Blended Learning: This course has online modules that reduce the in-person class time. Expect to spend about 6 hours, 45 minutes to complete the online modules. You will receive a link to these modules within 30 days of the course start date. You may need to check your spam folders if you do not see an email in your primary inbox. Please login early to ensure you have access and begin working on the modules. If you have any difficulty accessing this, please reach out to the Red Cross at 800-733-2767.
